Established
in 1969, HAI is a non-profit arts organization dedicated to
serving culturally underserved New Yorkers. As an approved
Department of Education vendor, HAI has been providing an
array of arts and cultural services to hundreds of school
groups for several decades:
Youth
Leadership Presentations & Workshops
- Respect:
Performance and discussion on the topic of respect. (Jr. High
and High School)
- Peace
by Peace: Performance and two workshops about
conflict resolution. (grades 8-12)
- Take
Ya Time: Performance and two workshops about
bullying prevention. (grades 3-7)
- Youth
Leadership Workshops: Conflict resolution and leadership
skill-building. workshops, series of 4
Arts
Residencies for Students
Participatory
music, dance, theater or visual arts workshops for students
led by professional teaching artists. 10 session workshop
series for one or more classes. (all grade levels/special
education)
Professional
Development in the Arts
Professional development
provides teachers with skills to integrate the arts with ?general
classroom curricula. Individual or day-long school-wide sessions.
Enrichment
Programs
Teaches classroom
subjects through the arts, including history, language arts,
math and science. (all grade levels)
Group
Tickets / STEP (Student Teacher Enrichment Program)
Tickets to Broadway
and Off-Broadway, dance, music and sporting events.
Staff
Development in Prevention and Intervention
Provides Educators
with role-play strategies and theater techniques to aid them
in discussing sensitive topics such as teen relationship abuse
and building staff teams.
Performances
for Assemblies or the Classroom
HAI’s diverse
roster of artists perform Caribbean, Latin, blues, Cajun,
R&B, Afro-American, rock n' roll, jazz, and a variety
of ethnic and cultural music as well as an array of dance
and theater.
