The
Public Theater is one of the jewels in the crown of New York City
cultural life. Through generosity of spirit, it has donated tickets
to HAI for groups from mental health and substance abuse treatment
programs, hospitals and nursing homes to attend hundreds of extraordinary
productions.
In addition, for the past twenty years, HAIs
Summer Program, which provides access to cultural events in the
Citys parks during the summer for frail elderly and disabled
individuals, has also received nightly reserved tickets for all
New York Shakespeare Festival productions at the Delacorte Theater.
Even this past summer, when it was virtually impossible to get tickets
for the star-studded production of The Seagull, tickets were
set aside for participants.
It has been the tireless effort of one person, Alison
Harper, Director of Special Services at the Public Theater, who
has supported HAIs mission, putting tickets to stellar performances
in the hands of the elderly and disabled. Alison, HAI thanks you
for your thoughtfulness and dedication, and for helping us extend
the cultural riches of this City to our participants.
The Public Theater is royal among the realm of theater.
Long may it reign!
